We carried out the design in conjunction with HMA Architects
This project at Torpedo Bay on Auckland’s North Shore involved converting existing 1880s naval buildings into the new Naval Museum for the RNZN.
The new facility houses a café with outdoor seating, a small museum shop, temporary exhibition areas, classroom teaching spaces and ancillary spaces.
The main exhibition area retains the original steel truss roof structure and a large gantry crane installed during the 1960s.
New roofing and exterior cladding has returned the building closer to its original form.
