Providing a better and safer network for all road users including drivers, cyclists and pedestrians has been a core project for the Hertfordshire County Council (HCC).

Since 2012, Opus and Arup have been providing road network management services for Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). The contract was against a backdrop of continuing reductions in highway investment nationally, highlighting the value and savings that robust highway management can bring.

We work with HCC, not as a service provider but as an equal, willing to offer solutions and share burdens. By doing this, an end-to-end ‘whole client service’ model was created which enables a collective team to implement and manage technical strategies across Hertfordshire’s highway network.

Our reputation as a leading global infrastructure consultancy has been built upon our strong asset management credentials and ability to recognise a client’s asset value and develop maintenance interventions to enable it to deliver to their communities.

In the case of Hertfordshire, the contract will see the provision of an improved service, reduced long term costs and safer networks for all road users.
