Brisbane Square is a landmark high-rise tower in Brisbane, rising 40 levels above the Brisbane River at North Quay.
The commercial building’s sought after location, on an entire city block between Queen Street Mall and the Brisbane River, combined with its design, make it a social and cultural hub for the city.
Striking architectural design, facilitated by Opus’ unique structural engineering solutions, makes the building prominent from both ground and skyline views.
It received a Five Star Green Rating for its ecologically sustainable practices, making it one of Australia’s largest high-rise buildings to achieve this impressive rating.
The $198 million project comprises of 81,000m2 of gross floor area and 50,000m2 of net lettable floor area. The lower six levels are made up of low rise commercial and retail space and a basement of 350 car parking spaces.
The ground level exhibits a public themed plaza of art and landscaping - linking the Queen Street Mall to the Brisbane City Council, shops, restaurants and meeting areas of the development.
Due to the complex design and client requirements of this prominent building, Opus delivered structural engineering solutions, innovative and unique to building structures in Australia. Some key elements include the use of significant cantilevers, 110m feature columns, a “lambda” brace and an extremely efficient floor scheme.
